Attributed to the Elting-Beekman Shops,
Kingston, New York, mid-18th century
Collection of the Hasbrouck Family Association,
on extended loan to Historic Huguenot Street
This kast is attributed to the second generation of Elting-Beekman Shops in Ulster County. It shares characteristics with a kast acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2012, including paneled sides and door panels made from thicker pieces of wood with bevels cut and center fields ploughed out. When the fields are ploughed out in this manner, gaps result in the top and bottom bevels and are patched. These patches are visible in the top bevels of the door panels of the kast acquired by the Hasbrouck Family Association in 2014.
