Project Description

KAST
Kingston, New York, late-18th century
Tiger maple and pine
Collection of the Old Dutch Church, Kingston, NY

According to information in Church files, the kast was “made for Gerrit Van Keuren of Kingston by a local cabinetmaker on Green Street in the 18th century.” The wood of this kast has an attractive tiger-striped figure and amber tone, which was apparently stripped and refinished.
